The White House released a message marking the 136th birthday of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The text recounts Eisenhower’s military service, election victories in 1952 and 1956, and key achievements including the Korean War armistice, the Civil Rights Act of 1957, creation of NASA and the Small Business Administration, and the Interstate Highway System. It then states that the current administration is “proudly advancing the ideals that shaped Eisenhower’s Presidency,” listing economic prosperity, strong national defense, secure borders, peace through strength, and American exceptionalism.
